HOOPLA!:

A Symphony of Art & Discovery From Durham to Danville

Internationally published artist Perrin Marie is creating a series of hoop skirts and accessories adorned with recycled materials that make noise—not always just a gentle swish swish, but the clink of bottles, the chime of cans, and a whole lot of presence.
Through this work, Perrin empowers self-identifying women, non-binary individuals, and others across the gender spectrum to take up space and make HOOPLA! (get it?).

From June 1st to June 30th, Caswell Arts will host HOOPLA!, a truly unique and captivating art exhibit by internationally published artist Perrin Marie. This isn't just an art show; it's an immersive adventure that blends history, artistry, and sound into a delightful exploration of our beautiful county.

Watch for special pop-up events and unique celebrations throughout the month to enhance your visit!

The HOOPLA! collection features exquisitely crafted hoop skirts, reimagined as stunning works of art. Each piece is uniquely adorned with recycled materials that create subtle, melodic sounds as they move, transforming the visual experience into an auditory delight.

Perrin Marie's vision for HOOPLA! is deeply rooted in the powerful history of these garments. Historically, the grandeur of hoop skirts allowed individuals to command physical space, subtly signifying influence and presence. Perrin Marie's contemporary creations beautifully nod to this historical significance, inviting viewers to explore themes of presence and artistic expression in a fresh, engaging way.

During the month of June, these unique hoop skirts will be "sprinkled" throughout various locations across Caswell County, Danville, VA, and Durham, transforming familiar landscapes into unexpected outdoor galleries. Imagine discovering a vibrant, sound-making sculpture nestled amid our towns and scenic views!
