What arts experience will 6-8 year old have this week?

Drumming  - Greg Whitt is an in-demand teaching artist and facilitator working with groups to explore ideas about culture, connection, and wellness. Cleverly disguised as music, Greg’s programs are actually hands-on philosophy teaching us how to live, work, and play well together in community.  Leveraging world music and ancient wisdom traditions, campers learn to play hand percussion as they explore character development through rhythm.  Everyone gets to be in the band at www.drumforchange.com

Art Exploration - Felice McWilliams teaches percussion appreciation, painting techniques, ukulele and guitar at Making Danville Smile, inspiring others to be creatives, while encouraging them to take a chance on themselves! “We all need a creative outlet.  Art and music are just a couple ways to do that! Find your thing and do it! Be creative!”

Theater  - Abriel Stowe has been a part of theatrical productions since the age of 10.  Her experiences include many facets of theatre, including choreography, lighting, stagecraft, costuming, and sound.  Her most recent endeavors were with Roxboro Little Theatre in her roll as assistant director for the production of Finding Nemo Jr.  She also enjoys many areas of art and has a background gymnastics and cheerleading.

Stage Craft - Julia Fair holds a Masters in Music Education from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Art in Music Education from the University of Minnesota, Morris.  She has been teaching for over 20 years and has been performing and producing art for even longer.  Aside from music, her artistic areas of focus include jewelry, crochet, stagecraft, painting, card making, and more.

Culinary Arts - Erin Tooley has always loved baking- even as a child.  She decorates cakes, cupcakes and cookies for her business, Clementine’s Traveling Tea Parties and for friends and family.  Erin and her husband live in Ringgold, VA with their four sons.

All participants will experience:

The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society

Mickey Mills and his Steel Drum

The Danville Orchestra
