Donna Wesley Spencer is a photographer and founding member of Perspective Gallery in Evanston, IL. She spends part of her time in Caswell County. Her current project is called “A Southern Diary”. Although she has spent most of her adult life in the Chicago area, she grew up in the South.
She describes her work as follows: “I have Master’s degree in English but also studied Art History and photography, and I think of literature, history and art history as foundational to my photography. All of my projects have related to history in some way – personal or cultural. I have been working on “A Southern Diary” for the last 4 years, making work in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. I am especially interested at this point in making photographs in Caswell and surrounding counties.” Her work can be seen at DonnaWesleySpencer.com.
Our mission: To increase arts awareness, educate our citizenry, provide positive opportunities for exposure to the arts, and to nurture local creative expression.
